3.8 magnitude earthquake strikes Buffalo area


A 3.8-magnitude earthquake hit suburban Buffalo early Monday morning, officials said.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was felt at 6:15 a.m. in the town of West Seneca, just outside the city of Buffalo.

The National Weather Service said it was. It is not known if there was any damage. from the earthquake, which was “severely felt by many people in the Buffalo, New York area.”

It was also not immediately known if any injuries were reported from the earthquake, he said.

Erie County Executive Mark Polon-Carz said he spoke with the county’s Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and said “initial reports indicated tremors were felt as far north as Niagara Falls and as far south as Orchard Park.”
