A retired professor at the University of Michigan has been placed on vacation after telling students in an obscene video that they don’t want to know anything about them because they are ‘just carriers of disease’.

‘Complain to your dean, f *** you! Go ahead, ‘Barry Mehler shouted in the video. ‘I’m retiring at the end of this year and I don’t give a flying f ***!

The 74-year-old Mehler, a tenured history professor at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, posted a 14-minute video Sunday before the start of the Spring 2022 semester.

In the video, he told the students that it didn’t matter how hard they worked in their class because they randomly predicted their grades before the semester.

‘None of you … is good enough to earn an A in my class,’ Mehler said. ‘So I randomly assign grades before the first day of class. I don’t want to know anything about you. I don’t want to know your name. I look at the number and I assign the grade. This is how predestination works …

‘And don’t come … complain to me. Take your food to God. ‘

“I don’t take questions in class because I wear a helmet to stay alive,” she said.

Mehler was one of many professors who expressed concern about returning to personal learning during the epidemic.

‘I don’t know if you noticed this, but it is dangerous to breathe air,’ he said in the video. ‘Many of your experts are advising you to wear masks as the deadly virus is spreading around the planet. Your civilization is declining and life on your planet is ruined. ‘

She said she had no choice but to return to the classroom to teach her students, but urged students not to join them because of their age and the risk of becoming infected.

“I’m old enough to be your grandfather, and you are carriers of the disease for me,” he said. ‘So when I look at a classroom filled with 50 students, I see 50 selfish children who don’t care whether their grandfather lives or dies.

Ferris State said Mehler was placed on leave while investigating his behavior. The professor did not respond to an email seeking comment.

‘Watching this video shocked and shocked me. It is profane, offensive and disturbing and does not in any way reflect our university or its values, ‘President David Eisler said Thursday.

At the end of the video, Mehler tells students not to worry about how distance learning can affect their grade,

‘You have no control over your grade,’ he said. ‘It doesn’t matter how hard you work.’

Mehler’s bio is no longer on the university’s website and the status of his Spring 2022 course is unclear.
