AN Airbnb guest got a rude awakening when a stranger walked into his rental at midnight.
Paul Drexler traveled all day, when he finally rented his South Florida home at 2pm.
Drexler said he had come to find the house exactly as described in the Airbnb app, and entered the house through an unlocked door.
“In the bedroom, the bed was made and ready to go, and two clean folded towels await me,” Drexler told WSVN.
A man tired of traveling said he fell asleep and woke up to find the owner of the house very confused.
“The next morning, I woke up when I knocked on the door, and I was surprised when the guy knocked on his own door.
“He goes, ‘Hey, can I help you? This is my house,’ and I was like, ‘Um, no, this is the Airbnb I rented.’ He goes, ‘No, this is my home,’ “Drexler said.
“I could have alerted the angry homeowner. Something really bad could happen.”
The homeowner eventually took Drexler to the exit and they finally found their rent.
“I accidentally got the Google Maps address from the Airbnb app; The address is next door, ”Drexler explained to the outlet.
He said: “In retrospect, now, I look back, all the clues were there. It’s not the right Airbnb, but at 2am, your brain’s like, it’s here. This is it. “
Drexler said he would be more careful in the future by double-checking his Airbnb rental information.
“I’ve stayed at hundreds of Airbnbs and this has never happened before,” Drexler said.
