EXCLUSIVE: Faced with a spike in illegal immigration at the US border, Texas authorities have launched a new elite task force, including K9s and drones, to track and apprehend a record number of illegal aliens who have slipped through the Border Patrol. USA
Fox News was joined by a strike force that was part of Operation Lone Star, and the group saw a group of lone adults entering the brush and making arrests after they actively sought to evade Border Patrol.
The new unit consists of troopers, drone operators and surveillance K9s. The Texas Department of Public Safety told Fox that its goal is to increase resources for the US Border Patrol to “identify, track and apprehend illegal immigrants who are evading law enforcement and evading apprehension.” It also gathers intelligence, intercepts human smuggling and detects scouts.
“This is partly due to an unprecedented number of escapes,” spokesman Lt. Christopher Olivares told Fox. “We will continue to deploy task forces and task forces in strategic areas to address threats to public safety and support our federal partners.”

Even as the United States deals with a historic migrant standoff at the southern border, it is letting a record number of “defections” — agents overflowing with illegal immigrants — pass by.
There were more than 73,000 “escapes” in November alone, up from more than 137,000 for this fiscal year. In fiscal year 2022, there were about 600,000 refugees. In fiscal year 2021, 389,155 people escaped at the border.
Figures for November indicate that on average at least 2,400 people evaded border patrol each day.
The data also shows that there were at least 207,000 migrant arrivals in November, up from 174,000 in November last year and 72,113 in November 2020.
One morning, Fox News saw a new unit of 50 scares – all single adults trying to control past agents. They were from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. Among them was a scout armed with an AK-47.
Fox also scouted a video cartel across the river from Mexico. Scouts have used radios and even drones to monitor and track law enforcement to determine when and where they might push illegal immigrants into the La Joya and Mission areas.
SOUTHERN BORDER SECTOR VIEWS LARGE INCREASE IN ILLEGAL MIGRANT CRASH AS A BENEFIT FOR 42
Texas Governor Greg Abbott says the Biden administration is taking unprecedented steps to address the border crisis, which is not being adequately tackled. Abbott recently announced a crackdown on the border and deployed tactical vehicles along the border to protect troops from cartel activity.
Meanwhile, further increases in illegal immigration are expected at the border as Title 42, the Trump-era health care authority, expires on December 21 under a court order. This order was used to expel many. Migrants have been at the border since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The expiration of the order has sparked concerns that Republicans and Democrats will see a new surge in the number of immigrants they believe the United States will be more likely to release.
The Biden administration has acknowledged those concerns, but said it has a plan to deal with the surge, including cracking down on human smuggling, increasing resources at the border and increasing the use of alternative removal authorities.
President Biden sparked controversy earlier this week when he said he was not visiting the southern border while in Arizona, saying there were “more important things going on.”
