A teenager at Sen. Ted Cruz’s home was taken to the hospital after an 911 call.

Police and emergency personnel responded to Sen. Ted Cruz’s Houston home Tuesday night after receiving a call of a teenage girl who had self-injured, according to local reports.

A 14-year-old girl reportedly stabbed herself with a knife at the Houston police headquarters in the River Oaks neighborhood. This was reported by ABC13 and KHOU 11.

Officers received the call at 8:00 p.m. local time.

The teenager was rushed to hospital and is expected to be in good condition.

Police could not confirm if the girl was a member of the Cruz family.

The Republican lawmaker has two daughters, ages 14 and 11.

ABC13 reporters spotted police officers in the backyard of his home Tuesday night.

A spokeswoman for Cruz asked the station for her daughter’s privacy when contacted for comment.

“This is a family matter and thankfully their daughter is fine,” the rep said. “No serious injuries.”
