A biological man who identified as a woman and was sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing his parents in 2016 is now listed as a woman. Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC).
Andrew T. Balser, 24, was initially listed as male in MDOC records after his 2018 murder conviction, but state records were recently changed to list Balser as a female inmate. According to Reduxx.
Balser was also charged in 2018 with Andrea in the 2016 Halloween stabbing of her parents.
Balcer told authorities he “stumbled” them to death because he was struggling with his gender identity. Balser reportedly woke Alice up the night she killed her mother and said she was having trouble sleeping.

Alice Balser tried to comfort him when she stabbed him nine times in the back, killing him. Balcer also killed his father, Antonio, and their pet Chihuahua, Lily. “Today is not your day,” he chides his older brother before letting him run away.
Balser reportedly laughed as he confessed his crimes to a police officer over the phone. He called 911 himself to report the murders.

Balser was also charged in 2018 with Andrea in the 2016 Halloween stabbing of her parents.

According to archived MDOC records, Balser, who stands 6’1″, was listed as male as early as September.
It remains unclear what accommodations Balcer will receive as a female inmate, and MDOC did not respond to a request for comment by press time.

In 2020, MDOC Commissioner Randell Liberty implemented a policy requiring state correctional facilities to provide inmates with gender-appropriate clothing items, including push-up bras and bras.
As a result, Balcer is entitled to a bra and other medical equipment that gives the appearance of breasts.
