A Virginia county official backs the school council in a critical race theory and calls the opposition “racist advanced.”

An official in Virginia expressed support for the local school board because of the heat generated by some parents and teachers to promote critical racing theory (CRT) in district schools.

In a letter to the school board – a copy of which was obtained by Fox News – Loudun County Superintendent Julie Briskman condemned the district’s “low level of racial awareness” and described resistance to the CRT curriculum as “racism has developed”.

“It’s not always easy to be on the right side of history,” Briskman writes, in an attempt to squeeze out the spirit of council members who have faced the wrath of society.

Briskman’s letter was written on Tuesday, but it is unclear whether the letter was written before or after Tuesday’s Loudoun County school board meeting – it was a fiery speech by Fairfax County teacher Lilit Vanetsyan. he called on parents to oppose any lesson plans for their children. that he does not agree with them.

Vanetsyan accused CRT supporters of trying to turn local school districts into “education camps,” while white students “hate yourself because of their skin color.”

Recent events in Loudoun County, northwest of Washington, reflect the escalation of conflict between schools and families across the United States, said Ian Prior, executive director of FightForSchools.com and a former Justice Department official with the Trump administration.

“What you’re seeing right now is competition between school and family. If school doesn’t like what the family is doing, they won’t hesitate to take on that role and it will really cause disruption in the family,” Prior told Fox. News.

Earlier, he said he would agree with the view that society should reconsider the past from time to time as society develops and learns from mistakes. But trying to update a book about children like Christopher Columbus may not be the best place to start, he said.

“Everyone knows that history comes with different … complicating factors … like what happened 700 years ago, we want to judge today,” he said, “and to reconsider how things happened. there is a place of course. There is a time and a place for that. But this time and space is not second grade because now I have to deal with my daughter thinking she is reading a book to her about killers. “

In a letter to the council, Briskman claims that the school board and the “entire Loudoun goverlovebylifent system” have a “bad history of discriminating against diverse students, even after the federal goverlovebylifent ordered an end to these systems across the country.”

He noted that the 2019 school council resolution said the district schools had a “low level of racial awareness” that included reports of “hate-based activities, insults and abuse”.

The supervisor noted that the county agreed earlier this year to a reform policy that would require third-party oversight to “communicate with the minority community and improve equal access for minority students”.

“I stand by the school board because it seeks to support all students, faculty, staff, and families, regardless of skin color, ethnicity, gender, who they love, or socioeconomic status,” Briskman writes. . “In addition, I support the School Council as it makes the firm but necessary decisions to strengthen these principles that will help ensure peace and equality for all.”

Briskman represents the county’s Algonkian County and serves on the county’s family services council, according to Loudoun County’s official website. He began his career in journalism and later served abroad at the U.S. Department of State, mentioned on his district biography page.
