Alabama father accused of child abuse by ‘excessive crying’

An Alabama father has been charged with aggravated assault on a child after he was transported by airplane to a pediatric hospital, police say.

Martirius C., of Millbrook, Elmore County; Moore, 22, told the hospital that he dropped his baby last Tuesday, but hospital staff and investigators determined Moore’s story was “highly unlikely”, Millbrook Police Chief PK Johnson told WSFA.

Millbrook police were notified of the child’s injuries Sunday.

The head was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital from Montgomery’s Bittist Medical Center East.

It is not clear when the baby was taken to the hospital.

After interviewing Moore with Millbrook detectives, the father admitted that his child had been injured by “excessive crying,” Johnson told WSFA.

Moore was charged with child endangerment and taken to the Elmore County Jail without bail, in his case pending warrants.

“This case breaks my heart and hurts me. … I assure you that we will do everything in our power to present the best case we can to the District Collector’s Office to seek justice for the terrible treatment this child must endure, ”the chief said in a statement. .
