Alcohol shortage is hampering the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays


Liquor suppliers across the US have been warning customers that their favorite spirits are not readily available on Thanksgiving holiday hits, indicating a number of supply chain issues that could lead to empty spaces on shelves in the near future.

“With corner holidays and in some cases inventory levels low, consumers now have to look out if they have specific bottle spirits in mind,” Hawkins added.

“You have shipping problems, you have a lack of glass, you have aging needs – dealing with all those things at once,” said Daniel Mitchell, Booze Barn manager in Lansing, Michigan. WILX TV.

Many Michigan stores are complaining about the lack of carriage of tequila, in particular, after producers were affected by the coronavirus epidemic. Mitchell explained, “Once these companies get behind, the material has to sit in barrels for X time. Unfortunately, you can’t speed it up.”

‘Candemic’: Supply chain problems hit breweries, may lead to aluminum shortage

Utah’s Alcohol Beverage Control Department is warning about shortages, including various Hennessy cognacs and Patron Silver Tequila, as well as Dom Perignon Blanc and Moet Imperial Brut Champagne.

The agency said Fox 13 Thanksgiving is usually the busiest week for state-run liquor stores, and consumers must wait long lines or make alternative choices that they may not have.

“If you go to a store and you find your product is unavailable, take this as an opportunity to shop locally,” said Tiffany Clawson, executive director of Utah Alcoholic Beverage Control. “We have a lot of local manufacturers that make great products that are not better than our national brands.”

The New Hampshire Liquor Commission says their state will be more buffer than most Alcohol Shortages, but those who are planning their favorite holiday redemptions still have to prepare for some pain.

“New Hampshire is more fortunate than other states because of the alcohol commission’s mandate practices, our inventory requirements and the ability we have in our million-plus-case warehouse in Bow,” said spokesman EJ Powers. Seacoastline, Reports that “liquor stores from Texas to New York” are currently facing shortages.

“All this being said,” Powers continued, “supply chain issues are very real and at some point affect every liquor retailer across the country, especially during busy holidays.”
