Alexandria City Council reinstates school resource officers after requests from teachers and parents about violence

The Alexandria City Council decided in May – a year of national protests to force police departments to reimburse them – to remove school resource officers and to redistribute $ 800,000 to hire mental health counselors.

However, some activists say the presence of resource officers scares minority students and that money is better spent on other initiatives, such as mental health.
