Michael Chandler Islam Makhachev recently hit back at the latter after being called ‘Iron’ after his win against Thiago Moises at UFC Vegas 31. However, the 35-year-old American’s statement upset the management kingpin, Ali Abdelaziz.
Egypt took to Twitter to offer its two cents on what Michael Chandler said in response to the waiting champion.
Michael Chandler’s opinion on Islam Makhachev
It was right in Chandler’s character to hit back at Islam Makhachev, never shying away from responding to call-outs from potential opponents.
Islam Makhachev has been a riot in the UFC ever since he stepped into promotion. To overcome all odds for his compatriot Khabib Nurmagomedov to ascend the throne, Makhachev is bent on restoring Dagestani autocracy in the UFC’s 155-pound division.
After Makhachev ousted several UFC lightweights following his victory over Moises, Chandler commended Dagestani for his achievement.
Michael Chandler talks about his wrestling skills while accepting Islam Makhachev’s degree from the Khabib Nurmagomedov Center of Wrestling. Noting how Khabib and his allies have a tendency to take the fight to the ground and ‘break’ their opponents, Chandler argued how he was immune to it.
“I’m a homer when it comes to wrestling. I think wrestling beats everything. I think wrestling beats judo, [Brazilian jiu-jitsu], I think it beats sambo but it’s just me being a homer. I think wrestling beats sambo. I think wrestling beats every other ground martial art. Maybe someday we’ll see,” said Chandler. In an interview with MMA Fighting.
Ali Abdelaziz has already given his verdict on the outcome of the battle. However, some might argue that Dagestan manifests this opinion as an Egyptian predilection for all things.
