Rock singer Alice Cooper has opened up about the death of Jeff Beck, just a day after his funeral in London.
“I’m so sorry to see Jeff Beck go,” the musician told Clive Davis at the pre-Grammy Gala. “Jeff Beck was my favorite guitar player of all time. And I only saw him two weeks before that happened.”
The 78-year-old British rock star died after a short illness.
“After a sudden bout of bacterial meningitis, he passed away peacefully yesterday. His family has requested privacy as they grieve this tremendous loss,” a representative said on Jan. 11.

“I mean, it was surprising to me,” Cooper repeated.
The 75-year-old was last seen playing with Johnny Depp in concert.
A source close to Depp confirmed that he was “at Jeff’s bedside” with “a few other rock stars” before his death.
“They were playing in Phoenix. And he was great. I mean, I didn’t see — I didn’t see anything. It must have been too soon,” Cooper said of the last time he saw Beck.
