An Alabama man has $ 2 million bond for child sexual abuse

DeKalb County investigators arrested a Boz man Tuesday for child sex offenses dating back to 2013.

Tomas Juan Francisco, 47, was arrested at his home near Aroni on charges of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12, DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Weldon said. He is being held at the DeKalb County Detention Center on $ 2 million bond. Most of the charges are pending, investigators say.

According to court documents, investigators say Francisco had sex with a child at the age of 10.

Weldon said the charges stem from an investigation by DeKalb County investigators who specialize in sex crimes and crimes against children.

“I wish we had a way to prevent any child from getting into trouble like this, but our job is to follow the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” Weldon said. “The only way to prevent these kinds of crimes is at the family level. Please note who your younger family member is and what their intentions may be.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (256) 845-3801.
