Ashton Kutcher admits he stood awkwardly with Reese Witherspoon during the red carpet events of his new movie “Your Place or Mine” to avoid rumors of an affair.
“Here’s the thing: If I put my arm around her and be all friendly with her, I’m going to have an affair with her,” the actor, who is married to Mila Kunis, told “Chucks In The.” but said The Office” podcast Monday.
“If I’m standing next to him and I put my hands in my pockets, there’s no way it could be a rumor, a rumor that we don’t like each other.”
Kutcher, 45, then clarified, “Reese and I are really good friends. We’re really close. I don’t need to defend him.”
The “Punk’d” alum also shared that she’s “hard of hearing,” so that combined with the photographer’s obsession with carpets may have played a factor in her disgruntled face.
“I don’t know who’s calling my name, but I know there’s a lot of people yelling, ‘Reese, Ashton, here…’ and, at a certain point, you’re like, ‘God. , it’s really something. ‘ … for like 20 minutes,’” he explained.

The photos even prompted Kunis, 39, to say something to her spouse and friend.
“My wife called me, she texted me and Reese together, and she’s like, ‘You guys have to act like each other,'” Kutcher said on the podcast.
Witherspoon confirmed the conversation on the “Today” show, adding that she’s actually known Kunis longer than Kutcher, so it was “fun” to get to know her friend’s significant other.
Kutcher has been married to Mila Kunis since 2015.
Witherspoon has been married to Jim Toth since 2011.
