Ashton Kutcher once told Harry Styles he was “really good” at karaoke – not realizing he was already a famous singer.
The 44-year-old actor revealed the embarrassing story in a new interview with Square, saying that he and his wife, Mila Kunis, were at a party hosted by “an extraordinarily well-known singer, probably the best singer today.” were with neighbour
While there, Styles, 29, got up to sing an ABBA song.
“I’m like, ‘Oh my God. It’s bananas,'” Kutcher recalled. “So this kid walks off the stage, and me and Mila go over to him. And we’re like, ‘Man, I gotta tell you something, you’re a ringer. You’re like a karaoke ringer. You’re really good… like, really good.”
The “As It Was” singer gracefully ignores social distractions.
“He’s like, ‘Thanks, man. Thank you, I really appreciate it.’ So we go to our friend and we go, ‘God, that guy was really nice, huh?’ And they’re like, ‘It’s Harry Styles,'” Kutcher recalled.
“And I was like, ‘Who is that?’ Like Milla, “he’s a boy band guy. He’s a professional singer,” added the “That ’70s Show” alum, admitting that after the fact, he felt a shock.
“He’s a professional singer. And we’re trying to tell him he’s a good singer. And I feel so stupid. So I really want to say, I’m sorry Harry Styles, but you’re really into karaoke. I’m good, man. Seriously, like really good.
As Kutcher now well knows, Styles eventually graduated from performing at Hollywood karaoke shindigs to embarking on a wildly successful solo singing career with his One Direction bandmates.
The “Watermelon Sugar” singer is nominated for six 2023 Grammy Awards and is set to perform at the annual awards show in Los Angeles this weekend.
