“Silver Haze,” directed by Sacha Pollack, premiered its trailer (below) ahead of its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in the Panorama section. Polk’s last film, “Dirty God,” was in the Sundance World Dramatic Competition, and was the opening film of the Intl. Film Festival Rotterdam in 2019.
“Silver Haze,” starring Vicky Knight and Esme Creed Miles, is being sold by New Europe Film Sales. French distribution is being handled by The Jokers, and Cinéart is handling Benelux distribution.
The film focuses on 23-year-old Frankie, a nurse who lives with her large family in an East London borough. Hungry for revenge and the need to assign guilt for a traumatic event that happened 15 years ago, he is unable to form a meaningful relationship until he falls in love with one of his patients – Florence. do it
They escape to the coast where Florence lives with her more open-minded patchwork family. There, Frankie finds emotional refuge to deal with past grudges.
The cast also includes Charlotte Knight, Archie Bragdon and Angela Bruce. Cinematography was by Tibor Dingelstad and editing was by Lot Rossmark. The film was produced by Marlene Slott at Viking Films in the Netherlands. Co-producer is Michael Elliott at UK’s EMU Films.
The film was financed by the Netherlands Film Fund, Netherlands Production Incentive, BBC Films and UK tax credits.
Pollack also directed the short “Breuer” which was in the Generation 14 Plus at the Berlin Film Festival in 2011. The feature film “Hamil”, screened in Berlin’s Forum section, won the FIPRESCI Prize in 2012. and the feature “Zurich,” which played at the Berlinale Forum in 2015, and won the CICAE Art Cinema Award.
