Biden to promote a new COVID project that includes free tests, travel rules and a booster campaign

WASHINGTON – Strict travel rules, free home tests and booster shots are key elements of President Joe Biden’s latest strategy to combat the rapidly evolving coronavirus.

Biden decided to promote his project during a visit to the National Institutes of Health on Thursday, as people start gathering for the winter and the holidays.

Components include:

  • Passengers entering the country by plane are required to check for a negative for COVID within one day of departure, regardless of vaccine status or nationality, rather than within three days.
  • The need to wear mask on airplanes, trains and public transport has been extended to March 18.
  • Includes 100% of the cost of home inspections for coronavirus required by private health insurance companies.
  • A public education campaign is being launched to encourage 100 million adults to get boosters with a special focus on seniors.

Biden’s new plan is being released a day after the United States’ first confirmed case of Omicron transformation was announced, and a new survey shows growing frustration and waning optimism about the status of COVID-19 vaccinations across the country.

According to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey, more than half of adults (58%) say they are “frustrated” about the status of COVID-19 vaccinations, more than the 50% who felt that way when the initial vaccination effort began in January. Released Thursday.

The country’s share of optimism about vaccinations has dropped from 66% to 48%.

Much of the frustration and less optimism is often driven by Republicans and to some extent independents.

Even before the Omicron mutation was discovered earlier this month, the Biden administration has been working on a coronavirus mitigation strategy for the winter, keeping people mostly home and traveling for the holidays.

The latest mutation began to circulate as people were still infected by the delta variant, adding to the urgency of the administration’s message that most people should get the vaccine, including getting a booster if eligible.

“I’m going back to it because it really is the solution to this problem,” said Dr. Kerr, after announcing the first confirmed case of Omicron transformation in the United States. Anthony Fauci said Wednesday.

The new strategy includes launching hundreds of one-stop sites for whole families – from grandparents to children – to vaccinate or raise.

According to the White House, pharmacies expand the availability of appointments and walk-in vaccinations, spread by text, calls and email.

Medicare connects 63 million seniors to encourage booster shots.

The AARP promotes government efforts, which offer rides to promote clinics and run town halls and other educational programs across the country.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, all Americans 65 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, with less than half receiving a booster.

Of all Americans, 70% have had at least one shot and 21% have increased.

A federal appeals court has suspended Biden’s attempt to increase vaccination rates by vaccinating or regularly testing those working in large businesses.

President Biden:Omicron coronavirus mutation is ’cause for concern, not cause for panic’

Currently, the administration is “asking businesses to do what’s right to protect their workers and their communities, which puts some kind of vaccination requirement or testing requirement in the workplace.” The senior administration official explained to reporters about the president’s strategy on the condition of anonymity.

According to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey, the vast majority of workers in big businesses say their employers already need vaccinations (36%) or their employers say they need it (17%).

The public as a whole is divided on the need for Biden’s vaccination for workers, with 45% saying they support (52%) little more.

The public disagrees with Biden’s handling of the epidemic: 44% approve and 48% disapprove.
