President Biden touted his economic achievements during his State of the Union address, but Americans across the country expressed divided views on how his two years in office have gone.
“If I didn’t work in a restaurant, I don’t think I would be able to eat,” Romelo, a resident of Washington state, told Fox News. “I’m dipping into my savings now.”
He said the cost of living was “crazy expensive” and the rent was “mind blowing”.
But Michael, of Nashville, said his financial situation has improved.
“I make more money than I did three years ago,” he said.

A recent Fox News poll found that 61% of registered voters disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy. Additionally, 45 percent of respondents said Economic conditions are “bad”. while 35% answered “only fair”.
“We are building an economy where no one is left behind,” Biden said during his State of the Union address on Tuesday. “Jobs are coming back, pride is coming back because of the choices made over the last several years.”
Laura, of Bellingham, Washington, doesn’t think she’s in a better position than before Biden took office.
“There’s definitely worse, but I’m still sitting in a role of privilege,” she told Fox News. “So I’m fortunate enough to have weathered the storm without completely damaging my family.”

But Rich, a D.C. resident, said: “If you look at it closely, jobs are up, inflation is down, corporate earnings are up, wages are up.”
“So, yes, overall, I think the economy is doing better, even though most people apparently don’t think so,” he continued.

“I’m doing a little smarter and more frugal,” said Paula of Austin. “Especially for someone like me in the service industry, you definitely have a little bit of a hard time making your money.”
And one Nashville man said: “Things are more expensive, and I think it’s digging us into a deeper hole.”
