Blake Shelton quits ‘The Voice’ to focus on parenting with Gwen Stefani: ‘I take it very seriously’


Blake Shelton treats Gwen Stefani’s sons like his own.

“Even though I’m a stepparent, I take it very seriously,” she told People magazine. “The children see me as a very important person in their lives.”

Shelton recently announced that he is stepping down as a coach after season 23 of NBC’s The Voice.

“If I quit my career now, the only thing I would risk is regretting missing out on the more important things in life. For now, it’s our kids. That’s not what it’s about. I won’t be now and never again.” , she said of transitioning to a less work-based life.

GWEN STEFANI SHARES HUSBAND BLAKE SHELTON’S RETIREMENT GIFT WITH VOICE

Stefani and Shelton met on The Voice and began dating in 2015. They got engaged in October 2020 and married in July 2021.

The 46-year-old country crooner was previously married to country musician Miranda Lambert from 2011-15. From 2003-06, Shelton was married to Kaynette Williams.

Stephanie, 53, was married to rocker Gavin Rossdale from 2002-16, and filed for divorce in 2015.

They have three sons: Kingston, 16; Zuma, 14; and Apollo, 8.

According to Shelton, her stepchildren taught me something about myself that I never knew: I’m not just a country singer or a dumb guy. I’m actually the person they rely on and it’s not a responsibility I’ve ever had or anything. I even considered going into it.”

“It’s a different kind of self-esteem,” the country singer added. “Maybe it’s counter-intuitive, because you put yourself on the ladder and they climb ahead of you.”

On Father’s Day this year, Stefani paid tribute to Shelton on her Instagram, captioning a photo of the couple with their children, “Happy Father’s Day @blakeshelton we all love you so much god really has you for my ups and downs gave” he wrote.

Children directly influenced Shelton’s career decisions, he explained:[When they ask], “Why isn’t Blake here?” I take these things to heart. I made a lot of money, but you can’t get time back. I don’t want any regrets.”

Shelton says he enjoys spending time with his family in Oklahoma, away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood.

“We walk away from everything [in L.A.]and we just We. It’s a really different feeling,” she added. “I feel the most comfortable, happiest and safest.”
