It seems that not everyone can be satisfied during awards season.
The finalists for the 2022 Heisman Trophy were announced Monday and All four quarters were based on voting results: Georgia State’s Stetson Bennett, TCU’s Max Duggan, Ohio State’s CJ Stroud and USC’s Caleb Williams.
Even with all their great seasons, the list wasn’t supposed to be complete – one way or another, a notable name had to be left out.
Here are a few players who qualified but didn’t make it to the finals:
Bryce Young, Alabama, QB
There will be no repeat Heisman winner this year. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young won the award last year with 4,872 passing yards, 47 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. However, this season, Alabama has not been very successful and Young has not been able to show himself. Regardless, the junior still had a respectable season that might have warranted a nomination. In all, he tallied 3,007 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 64.1 percent completion percentage.
Hendon Hooker, Tennessee, QB

Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker may have been the biggest upset this year. His season ended Nov. 19 after tearing his ACL against the South Carolina Gamecocks, but the senior boasted memorable performances, including a five-hit game against Alabama. In the end, Hooker finished his season with 3,135 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He also rushed for five touchdowns and 430 rushing yards.
Blake Corum, Michigan, RB
Much like Hooker, Blake Corum’s season ended on a sour note. The Michigan tailback injured his knee against Illinois on Nov. 19 and played just two snaps against Ohio State before being sidelined for season-ending surgery. It doesn’t help Corum’s case that Michigan has survived so far without him: Donovan Edwards has been a solid fill-in and was especially good, rushing for 185 yards and a touchdown in the Big Ten championship game against Purdue.
Still, the services of Chorum should not be forgotten. The Wolverines star rushed for 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns on 247 carries on the season.
