This may sound like hyperbole, but it’s true: the Progressive Education Association wants parents who attend school board meetings to act like terrorists.
President Joe Biden has been asked to criminalize parental opposition to the Critical Race Theory and Covid orders.
The move to curb First Amendment rights came from the National School Boards Association (NSBA), which organizes school board members. According to a recent letter from the White House, the Biden administration wants to use “extraordinary measures” that were initially created to counter foreign threats, intimidating parents and “protecting public school infrastructure.”
The Group Biden administration wants to invite the Patriot Act and protect parents, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Secret Service and the National Threat Assessment Center – a responsibility most school boards represent in their local communities.
Carol Markovich: Who are your children – you or your government?
And the Biden Justice Department has responded quickly to political opposition and the NSBA’s request to criminalize powerful Americans. US Attorney General Merrick Garland will meet with federal, state and local officials to “discuss strategies to address this disturbing trend.”
However, parents have a lot to say, and they should not be harassed.
Over the past year, parents have been increasingly attending school board meetings to oppose long-term closures, as well as using teachers’ critical race theory to promote racial prejudice. For most Americans, even if they disagree with them, they have family, friends and neighbors arguing on behalf of their children. To the NSBA, they are “current threats.”
If anything, parents sometimes have to fear retaliation or censorship of the school board. In Loudoun County, Virginia, this year, school board members formed a Facebook group to investigate and dock parents who dared to speak out against CRT. Reports from Indiana, Minnesota, Virginia, and Wisconsin, to name just a few, show that board members are no longer adding or suspending meeting agendas for public agendas.
Both school board members and attendees are responsible for making the meetings civil. The NSBA’s allegation is a problem for parents who show utter contempt for parents pouring out at school board meetings to make their voices heard.
Censoring parents is sure to end badly. Caring for school children in their communities is a healthy, all-American development. The school board’s election ballot has been modest for many years, about 10 percent. New interests must be celebrated, not criminal.
Parents want to know what their students are being taught – all they have to do. School boards are responsible for directing major district operations, including curriculum options and other district operations policies. According to USA Today, board members are accustomed to “sleep and mis-attended public meetings,” and parents are outraged by the application of Covid-related policies and educators on issues of racial prejudice in critical race theory. 12 classrooms.

According to the national poll, 70 percent of the national representative sample of parents Tell me They do not want schools to teach children that their skin color is important.
State lawmakers around the US are accepting and considering proposals that say no public official can force a teacher or student to believe or assert the idea of violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
On the other hand, school officials are using discriminatory activities in schools based on critical race theory. This includes schools in Portland, Oregon, where videos of the public school critical race theory group are available on YouTube.com; Evanston, Illinois, teachers suing the district over compulsory racial affiliation groups; And the Hayward Unified School District of California, where school officials posted a note on the district’s website that the CRT teaches.
The NSBA promotes the CRT, and the President Donald Trump administration has urged the Biden administration to reinstate the racial discrimination workforce development programs that were repealed last fall. While the public rejects the efforts of the CRT and state legislators to ban racial discrimination, its positions do not reflect the interests of families or policymakers.
Parents should not be petty. According to Axios, more than twice as many board recall elections or campaigns were conducted or initiated between January and July 2021 than at all times last year.
NSBA parents should not worry about attending meetings – they should worry about going to the ballot box for parents.
