BiteDance told CNBC on Wednesday that it is testing a type of food delivery service in China through its short-video app Duyin, which could potentially position itself against larger e-commerce companies. doing. Alibaba And Meituan.

Douyin is the Chinese version of TikTok, both owned by ByteDance.

China’s food delivery industry is dominated by Meituan and Ele.me.
But ByteDance’s tentative moves into the market suggest it wants a piece of the market, which is worth $66.4 billion in 2022, according to research firm IMARC Group.
