Cardi B pays tribute to Paco Rabanne in silver metal at 2023 Grammys

Cardi B knows how to make a statement.

The 30-year-old rapper attended the 2023 Grammys to present the Rap Album award to Kendrick Lamar.

She strutted her stuff in a silver metallic top and long skirt, both made with strategically cut triangular pieces from the designer’s Spring Summer 2021 collection. She paired the stunning skin-baring look with a matching hood from the Fall Winter 2020 collection.

The “WAP” hitmaker looked like a space-age soldier in a metallic mesh hood, which covered his eyes and hung close to his ears.

The tin-man-cheek look was designed by current Pico Robin creative director Julien Dossina, not Rabbani himself, who retired in 1999 — but it was still a sweet way to pay tribute to the late designer’s line.

Rabanne, who created similar space-age metal meshes for stars such as Jane Fonda, Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot, died earlier this month at the age of 88.

Sparkling metallics seemed to be the theme of the night, with Harry Styles, Beyonce, Viola Davis, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez and others all wearing some sort of glittery look for the musical awards show.

“Look at Cardi doing what Harry thought he was doing with the glitter,” one fan said. mocked on Twitter.referring to the sequin fringe jumpsuit Harry Styles wore to perform “As It Was”.

“Okay, Cardi! That’s how silver works! Another fan clapped..

A person asked if silver is the new gold. First to question“Can Cardi see?”

The star’s statement was not her first sculpture of the night. She first hit the Grammys 2023 red carpet in a gravity-defying, sculptural electric blue gown by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta Couture.

We can only imagine what the “Be Careful” singer will be slipping into for upcoming parties.
