Pop icon Celine Dion says she will cancel upcoming shows after being diagnosed with an incurable neurological disease that turns people into “human statues”.
“My Heart Will Go On” Legend broke the heartbreaking news Thursday in a tearful Instagram video.
“You know I’ve always been an open book and I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but now I am,” the 54-year-old Grammy winner said in the devastating clip. “I’ve been dealing with health issues for a long time and it’s been really hard for me to cope and talk about everything I’ve been through.”
Afterward, Dion revealed that she had been diagnosed with “a very rare neurological disorder called stiff man syndrome that affects one in a million.”
According to Radiseases.orgStiff person syndrome (SPS) is “a rare neurological disorder characterized by progressive muscle stiffness (stiffness) and recurrent episodes of painful muscle spasms.”
It states that if left untreated, SPS can progress to a point where it significantly impairs the sufferer’s ability to walk and perform daily, everyday tasks.
“While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know it’s the cause of all my spasms,” the singer said. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect all aspects of my daily life, sometimes making it difficult to walk and preventing me from using my vocal cords to sing the way I learned to.”
Due to her condition, Dion was forced to postpone her European tour to February. The Canadian singer also canceled eight of his summer 2023 shows and pushed back spring 2023 to 2024.

The beloved Canuck crooner revealed that he is currently undergoing treatment.
“I have a wonderful team of doctors working with me to help me get better and my dear children who support and help me,” she said. “I’m working hard every day with my sports medicine therapist to get my strength and recovery back, but I have to admit it’s been really hard.”
“I miss you so much. I miss seeing you all on stage performing for you,” Dion said. “I always give my performance 100 percent, but my condition doesn’t allow me to give it to you right now.”
He added: “To get back to you, I have no choice but to focus on my health at the moment and hope I’m on the road to recovery.”

The bombshell announcement follows the singer Determined in October 2021 he was forced to postpone his residency in Las Vegas due to “severe” muscle spasms.
A few months later, Dion canceled the North American tour and postponed the European tour.
