Chris Hayes called Musk’s Twitter rant “disastrous” and called it an “impulse buy” to serve his ideology.

On a recent episode of NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” MSNBC host Chris Hayes called Elon Musk’s ownership of Twitter “disastrous” and a tool to promote his ideological agenda.

Hayes also dismissed Musk’s move to buy Twitter, quipping that he bought the platform to make it look like it was working, even though it was actually just running around on social media.

Hayes has publicly disapproved of Musk’s Twitter over the past few weeks. He recently said in a New York Times guest essay that almost all of the left’s “worst fears” about Musk owning Twitter have come true.

A CIA analyst dismissed Musk’s free speech on Twitter as “nonsense” and claims it benefits Russian disinformation.

In the essay, Hayes noted: “[Musk] has attracted some of the worst trolls, driven away advertisers in droves, and cut staff so drastically that simple features like two-factor authentication sometimes fail, and it’s in danger of simply breaking down and not working at all.”

On Tuesday night’s episode of the NBC talk show, Hayes seemed a little concerned about the Tesla CEO’s Twitter takeover in his own language, but still heaped criticism on him.

He told host Seth Meyers, “No, it was disastrous,” and later downplayed the move, calling it an “impulse buy.”

He continued: “What made it clear to me was that it was a bit of an impulse buy at first.” Meyers agreed, and Hayes added, “It was at the box office, and here it was like a $44 billion social media company.” He physically acted out Musk shopping at the checkout counter, and Meyers laughed.

Hayes continued, saying, “It was very strange, it was the most expensive impulse buy of all time. I think it’s very clear to me what he’s doing with the platform now, because it wasn’t about the business, and it wasn’t an impulse buy.” was an ideological purchase.”

He compared Musk’s purchase to a long history of “rich people” buying media for their ideological purposes, adding: “As long as there are rich people, there is capitalism and there is a free press. , it was the rich who bought the mass media for ideological purposes.”

Hayes added, “It’s a very old story. And once I saw it like that, I was like, ‘Oh, what’s that.’ He wants to own Twitter because he wants to fulfill his vision of being the richest man in the world.

Hayes finally mocked Musk, who bought Twitter to say he was working, but when he was really just trolling his own social media platform. I think he bought it to be like “I’m working” by gesturing air quotes around the phrase.
