President Joe Biden is drawing fire from Republicans and Democrats on Twitter after he argued in a speech to Congress that America will need oil and gas for at least the next decade.
“Let’s face it. The climate crisis doesn’t matter if you’re in a red state or a blue state. It’s an existential threat,” Biden said during his State of the Union address Tuesday night.
“I’m proud of how America is finally rising to the challenge. We still need oil and gas for a while,” the president said, drawing loud applause from Republicans, and some “mutterings.” “Hoes” and even “boos” from lawmakers, as CBS reporter Margaret Brennan pointed out.

The president’s comments about oil and gas production came after he explained that some oil executives were concerned about his hostile stance toward energy production.
It was a problem that prompted Biden to admit that America “will need oil for at least another decade and beyond.”
Members of the GOP Biden’s comments drew laughter in the chamber, with conservatives also reacting to Biden’s admission on Twitter.
