Dan Hooker at Welterweight ?! The lightweight competitor teases the potential split change

If the former Dan Hooker is to be believed, there is no way he would consider returning to 145 pounds.

“It takes a million bucks to get me back to Featherweight,” Hooker told reporters in 2017.

And after making that statement, his ten UFC matches could put him somewhere in the neighborhood of $ 1 million, and it’s hard to think that the 6 ‘0 “lightweight would seriously consider dropping a division. After all, it’s not as easy as the cut age gets. He has more than 4 years to fill.

It seems, though, that some kind of change is coming. In the latest issue of The McLife’s Pub Talk Podcast, Hooker teased that he was preparing to take the test (Transcription by MMA Mania)

Asked about his future plans, he teased, “Do something a little bit this time.” “You have to make your next move better. I work very closely with the UFC and Fight Dietitian, and let’s just say I run a little test and we’ll see. I’ll be able to answer every question in next week’s show.

While still solid among the lighter elite, Hooker has gone just 1-3 in his past four games. Recently, UFC 267 dropped a short notice against Islam Makhachev. And despite their other losses in top flight competition, for Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler, the chances of a lighter gold hit sooner are reduced.

Is Hooker really ready to try and take on the Heavy Duty Power Wrestling of the top contenders at Welterweight? Or he will try and see if he can save a large sum of money when he drains himself to fight the high output volume strikers at 145. With fellow Kickboxing talent Alex Volkanowski on the throne of Featherweight, the move is highly unlikely. It seems fans can see Hooker try his luck at 20 pounds in 2022.
