The alleged attacker of legendary comedian Dave Chapelle has pleaded no contest to a battery charge.
Isaiah Lee Chappelle, 24, was sentenced to 270 days in jail on charges of battery and trespassing during a live broadcast after punching him on stage. at the Hollywood Bowl in California.

Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer initially charged Lee four misdemeanors battery, possession of a weapon for the purpose of assault, trespassing on stage during a performance and performing an act that delays or interferes with a performer.

Police said at the time that Lee was carrying a replica gun with a blade when Chappelle was attacked during the Hollywood Bowl show.

Lee told the Post during a prison interview that Chappelle’s anti-LGBTQ+ jokes “triggered” him and Will Smith hitting on Chris Rock “Inspired” him at the 2022 Oscars.

“I identify as bisexual … and I wanted him to know why,” Lee told the publication. “I want him to know that next time he’ll consider having his material moderated by people he can influence.”
Lee is awaiting trial in 2021 on an unrelated attempted murder charge in the attempted stabbing death of his roommate. He is being held on $1 million bail for attempted murder.
