Former UFC flyweight champion Deveson Figueiredo has his hands full before his trilogy match against Brandon Moreno, though he’s already thinking about plans after the title fight.
‘Deus da Gera’ knows who he wants to be the champion again and who will challenge him for the first title defense of his second reign: fellow countryman Alexandre Pantoja, who has already defeated him in July 2019.
However, Figueroa explained Ag Fight Alexandre needs to boost his self-promotion game if he’s really interested in a rematch. In Deveson’s opinion, the ‘cannibal’ needs to create more brawl around his fights, otherwise the more lucrative competitors will overlook him.
“He’s a kid who deserves it,” Figuerdo said. “I beat him in the first fight and I see he is very hungry for the belt. But he has to sell the fight. I see Henry Sejudo giving constructive criticism to that. He is very quiet. He has to sell. If he does, we will fight. I find the person who sells it.
“If he stays quiet, I’ll change my mind,” Figuerdo continued. “This business is marketing, selling spammers. Who knows, we can get a pay per view slot. I think I’m going abroad. I’m going to sell my soul so I can tear everyone’s head off. ”
On their last outing, Figuerredo (20-2-1) was submitted by Brandon Moreno in June. Prior to that, the 33-year-old struggled to secure a majority against the Mexican, which hampered a five-game winning streak, with four stoppage victories, except one win over Pantoja.
Now, Figueroa is expected to take on Moreno at UFC 270 on Jan. 22, at an undecided location. The card is scheduled to be titled through a heavyweight title integration between champion, Francis Naganou and provisional titleholder Cyril Gane.
