The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office in Birmingham is holding an “Amnesty Week” for those who have a warrant for non-appearance.
This initiative is for people who do not have guarantees for serious crimes without traffic, misconduct or violence. “Return” means those who have such an order in the Birmingham Division to clear them without arrest or threat of arrest. Those who have guarantees at Bessemer Cutoff are not eligible.
The program is sponsored by the DA office, the Jefferson County Public Defender’s Office, the Private Defense Panel, and the Jefferson County Criminal Justice Office.
Amnesty Week will be held from June 21 to June 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the lower courtroom in the city court building. This address is 801 Richard Arrington Small Boulevard.
Anyone who answers the question of whether or not they have the privilege can now call the Office of the Public Defender on June 25 from 1pm to 4pm at 205-307-7073.
