Dogecoin’s price rose Friday after Tesla began accepting a crypto meme token in the sale of merchandise and other products.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, a famous fan of DogCoin, has revealed the decision on his Twitter account.
“Tesla Murch can be purchased with Dogcoin,” Musk wrote.
As of Friday morning, the price of Dogecoin was 11 percent higher at $ 0.19 cents per token The base of the coin.
A review of the Tesla website has shown that many producers can already buy DogCoin. While it is currently out of stock, the company’s “Cyberquad for Kids” costs 12,020 dog, or about $ 2,300, including shipping and taxes.
Tesla’s Giga Texas Belt Buckle is priced at $ 835 a dog or about $ 158, but the CyberTruck-inspired CyberVissel 300 dog is selling for about $ 57.
Musk first unveiled plans to accept Dogecoin in December. At the time, the billionaire told his Twitter followers that Tesla “can buy some merch with Doz and see how it goes.”
Musk has repeatedly promoted Dogecoin in recent months, once referring to himself as “The Dogfather” and the infamous Meme Token when he appeared on “Saturday Night Live” last year.
Last February, Tesla bought $ 1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin in an effort to “diversify and increase revenue.” A month later, Musk announced that Tesla would accept Bitcoin for vehicle purchases.
But Musk later reversed that decision, tweeting that Tesla would no longer accept bitcoin due to concerns over the environmental impact of digital mining, which would require massive amounts of electricity.
