Recently retired Detroit Police Chief James Craig joined “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Wednesday in what he sees as a failed leadership of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and announce a gubernatorial search committee.
Craig, a Detroit native who has led the Motor City’s law enforcement force over the past 8 years—after stints in Cincinnati and Portland—said he “protected and served for 44 years” and now for the entire state of Michigan. wants to do the same.
Detroit Police Chief James Craig says more civilians should be armed
“We launched Chief James Craig for the Governors Exploratory Committee today,” said the Republican, who saved his city from the devastating left-wing riots that broke out last year in places like Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles, among other places:
“We know what happened last year when other cities were burning — Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago — Detroit didn’t burn.”
He said another major concern for the people of Michigan is Gretchen Whitmer’s leadership or lack of government. The Democrat’s name was often mentioned alongside the liberal governors of New York, California, Pennsylvania and New Jersey when there was criticism about statewide socioeconomic lockdowns.
“I can’t help but think about the small businesses that have been hit by the pandemic – and now we want to give … handouts and businesses can’t even hire employees,” Craig lamented. “I have to tell you — I’m running, because when I see politicians across the country — when I see Governor Whitmer, she follows different rules — she just does.”
“It’s about leadership – you can’t take that away from me – I’m a fighter.”
Host Tucker Carlson later remarked that Craig, who is black, was likely to be hindered by ad hominem attacks from the left, such as the conservative claim of being a “white supremacist”.
“Bring it on,” replied Craig. “I’m ready for it.”
