Frank Darabont secures settlement in profit sharing lawsuit, reports wrap, with Creative Artists Agency (CAA). The lawsuit, filed in 2013, was reportedly delayed several times, including a ban amid the coronavirus pandemic.
CAA and Darabont sued AMC, which has broadcast and produced the hit zombie drama since 2010, over profits from the show after Darabont was fired from the show’s second season. Darabont claimed that he was wrongfully terminated and was thus entitled to proceeds from the show.
In addition, the author also claimed that the team behind The Walking Dead was involved in an “unfair and degrading practice of self-treating” by agreeing to sell the series itself.
AMC wrote in an SEC (US Securities and Exchange Commission) filing [via The Wrap]: “The Settlement Agreement provides for a cash payment of $200 million (“settlement payment”) to Plaintiff and future revenue sharing related to certain future streaming exhibitions of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.
“To terminate Plaintiff’s rights with respect to The Walking Dead and any related programs and to dismiss the action with prejudice, the Company has charged approximately $143 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2021, an amount normally The course has a net worth of approximately $57million of earned participation.
“The Settlement Agreement also contains the customary provisions contained in such agreements, including mutual release, agreement not to sue, waiver, confidentiality, non-disparity and providing indemnity for third party claims.”
as digital spy Note, in 2018 Draybont filed another lawsuit against AMC which the network attempted to dismiss in 2020. The move of the AMC was overruled and both the suits were treated as one case.
