Fantasy Flight Games announce new ‘Star Wars: Unlimited’ TCG

Fantasy Flight Games (FFG), the company behind the popular tabletop game Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures, has announced a new trading card game (TCG) called Star Wars: Unlimited. The game is set to release in late 2023 and will feature characters, locations, and events from across the Star Wars universe.

According to FFG, Star Wars: Unlimited is a “living card game” (LCG), which means that instead of booster packs with randomized cards, players will be able to purchase fixed sets of cards with known contents. This approach is intended to make it easier for players to build the decks they want without having to rely on luck to obtain the cards they need.

The game will feature multiple factions, including the Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance, and the criminal underworld. Players will build decks of cards from their chosen faction and use them to battle against other players. The game will also include cooperative play options, allowing players to team up to take on AI-controlled enemies.

Star Wars: Unlimited will be the first TCG from FFG since the company discontinued its previous TCG, Android: Netrunner, in 2018. The game is set to launch with a core set and multiple expansion packs, with new content planned for release on a regular basis.

The announcement of Star Wars: Unlimited has generated excitement among fans of both Star Wars and trading card games. Many are eager to see what new mechanics and strategies the game will introduce, as well as what characters and locations from the Star Wars universe will be featured.

With its focus on fixed sets of cards and faction-based gameplay, Star Wars: Unlimited aims to provide a unique experience for TCG fans and Star Wars enthusiasts alike. The game is set to release later this year, and fans can expect more information and previews in the coming months.
