More than 96% of employees in the federal government are following President Biden’s vaccine requirement – meaning workers have at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination or have a pending or approved immunity request.

The president’s September executive order marked the November 22 deadline for more than 3.5 million federal employees to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 after the vaccine was mandated for those individuals.

LBL reports on the first Monday – November 22 deadline – 95% of federal employees are following Biden’s vaccine requirement.

The White House of Management and Budget Office released updated numbers Wednesday, revealing 96.5% of federal government employees in compliance with the ordinance.

Ninety-two percent of employees in the federal government have received at least one COVID-19 vaccination dose.

“As the successful implementation of this requirement across the federal government shows, these requirements will work: they will increase vaccination rates – leading to a safer, more productive and effective workforce,” the OMB said Wednesday.

For federal employees who do not comply with the mandate, the Biden administration is offering a period of education and consultation, with additional enforcement measures if necessary.

“This week’s deadline was not final,” OMB said Wednesday, adding that if an employee gets their first shot or submits an exemption request, agencies will “pause for more enforcement to give the employee a reasonable amount of time to vaccinate or process the exemption request.”

“The next phase of this process will not disrupt government services and operations and lead to more employees being vaccinated,” the OMB said.

At this point, the Agency for International Development has the highest compliance – 99.1% of employees meet the minimum vaccination dose or submit requirements for exemption.

At this point the Social Security Administration is the least compliant – but still 95% of their workforce is meeting the requirements.
