The shooting incident of the movie “Rust” is investigated by High-Power Attorney Gloria Allred, a firm of Allred, Marocco and Goldberg.
Well-known attorneys confirmed to LBL via email that they represent Mami Mitchell, the film’s script supervisor who made the 911 call after the gun was released.
On Thursday, actor Alec Baldwin was rehearsing the scene when he shot a weapon that was said to be “cold” or indicating that the weapon was safe.
A firearm was fired at cinematographer Halina Hutchins, killing her. Director Joel Soja is also injured, but has since been released from the hospital.

Allred wrote, “My law firm, Allred, Marocco and Goldberg, and I represent Mamie Mitchell. “She was very close to Haleena Hutchins and director Joel Souza when she shot both Halina and Joel.”

Prosecutors said Mitchell and her colleagues were “the ones to believe” when the first person called 911, and noted that Hutchins was Mitchell’s “friend and close colleague.”
“She was devastated by the loss of her friend who was an extraordinary woman,” Allred wrote. “Mami recently participated in the vigil for Halena and her heart has spoken to Haleena’s husband and son.”
The lawyer then explained that her firm conducts its own investigation.

“We are conducting our own investigation into what happened because there are so many unanswered questions,” he said. “Mamie has been interviewed by the Sheriff’s Department. She has information and evidence that she believes will be helpful in this investigation.”
Allred continued: “They will continue to answer any additional questions that law enforcement has and provide them with evidence they believe is relevant to their investigation.”
The attorneys concluded by explaining that Mitchell was “shocked” and did not give interviews to anyone outside of law enforcement before asking anyone with staff with relevant information to contact the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department.
