Goldman Sachs settles an abuse lawsuit with a former employee

Goldman Sachs settled a lawsuit filed by a former intern in California, alleging that the bank fostered a hegemonic culture of fraternity — an act of excessive drinking and at least one incident of physical violence.

The terms of the agreement with Patrick Blumenthal, a Drexel University student, were filed in San Francisco Superior Court on Friday evening during an 2017 internship with Goldman.

The deal came a week before the scheduled hearing on the bank’s request to dismiss the lawsuit.

While at the Investment Bank, Blumenthal was assigned to a group he referred to as “Team 007” and was led by Julius Erukhimov, a private financial wealth consultant nicknamed “Fast Julie”.

According to the Blumenthal lawsuit, photos of the team displayed nicknames of employees and interns on a panel on the office wall. He was claimed in court papers that his nickname was “Bloomie” and was teased “Blee Me”.

One of the most serious allegations made in the complaint is that Fr. On 9, 2018, Blumenthal and his colleagues went for a drink and were physically assaulted by Erukhimov.

Amidst excessive drunkenness, Erukhimov became angry at Blumenthal’s joke and hit his stomach, then started wrestling with him.

The lawsuit alleges that Erukhimov pulled Blumenthal out of the bar and choked him until he passed himself and urinated.

Blumenthal was placed in the chokehold “for so long” that he “thought he was going to die,” he said in the complaint.

He claimed that Blumenthal’s colleagues, including vice presidents and managing directors, tried to prevent the alleged attacks.

And instead of calling for an ambulance, Erukhimov drove his apartment to Blumenthal’s home, gave him pain medication and told no one about the incident, warning his uncle and cousin Russian oligarchs were “contract killers.”

Two days after the attack, Blumenthal was still not fully recovered, according to the complaint, and he went to the hospital, where he was found to be bleeding to the brain.

According to Patrick Blumenthal, he was suffocated this day and he was almost dead and then dragged out of office and warned not to talk about the incident anymore.

“He is still receiving treatment for his injuries,” said his lawyer, Dan Scar Told LOVEBYLIFE Friday.

In her complaint, Blumenthal said she was suffering from PTSD, mental anguish, brain injury and permanent physical pain due to the incident.

Blumenthal claimed he reported the incident to HR executives at Goldman in March 2018, but said the bank had “beaten this brutal attack under the rug and never talked about it again.”

The Blumenthal Suite claimed a loss of more than $ 25,000.

Attorneys for Goldman Sachs argued in court litigation that the company was not liable for injuries, which occurred after hours of work.

The bank said it had responded appropriately to Blumenthal’s complaints and did not return an offer to interview him about the attack.

“Goldman Sachs has no comment on the matter,” said bank spokeswoman Maeve Dowell.
