Tyron Woodley and Conor McGregor haven’t always seen face-to-face, but the former UFC welterweight champion has come out with a show of support for the Irishman after some fans called for McGregor to retire.
Speaking to Karen Bryant, Woodley had a lot to say about Conor McGregor and the fans who are calling for him to retire.
“It’s nobody’s job to tell a fighter when it’s time to run. Connor’s been on top for too long. He’s injured, he’s hurt, but he’s defeated a lot of people. So much for his There are several people injured on the clock. So, it’s up to him. Yes, he’s made money, yes, he’s done a lot of things. I honestly wouldn’t tell him anything. Whatever his heart wants to do,” Woodley said said .
Conor McGregor has a lot of options at this point in his career, and Woodley alluded to that fact. He also praised both Poirier and McGregor for their performances at UFC 257.
“If you want to keep fighting, if you want to fight a superfight, if you want to change the weight class, if you want to do anything. He is in a position to do that. Do I think he is old and fighting? Can’t and his time is up to him? No. His second fight against Dustin, they both looked amazing. I’m not the number one Connors fan, but when I saw that fight I saw an amazing fight.” Woodley concluded.

Woodley also talked about how Poirier’s game plan at UFC 257 was perfect. Conor McGregor could not handle Poirier’s leg kick, and it resulted in his downfall. However, Woodley concluded by saying that McGregor would do whatever he wanted.
