‘He owes me $ 50,000’ – Junior Dos Santos claims to have “deprived” Mike Tyson of a UFC win bonus

Junior Dos Santos developed his own reputation as a knockout artist during his heyday as UFC heavyweight champion. In his octagon run alone, “Sigano” features TKO / KO finishes on ex-champions such as Gabriel Gonzaga, Frank Mir and Kane Velasquez, as well as other well-known names such as Mirko Cro Cop and Derrick Lewis.

Along the way, Dos Santos took three Knockout of the Night bonuses. But according to him, there was one instance where he had to win both KO of the Night and Fight of the Night, another being “deprived” of a combat sports heavyweight legend.

“When I fought Mark Hunt (in 2013) I had two bonuses of the night – the best fight of the night and the best knockout of the night,” Dos Santos recalled in an exclusive interview. Sunsport.

“And Mike Tyson was there watching the fight, and after the match, in a press conference, Dana White said, ‘Junior dos Santos won two bonuses of the night. Best Fight of the Night, and Best Knockout of the Night.’

“But I was listening to Mike Tyson and he told me to give the night knockout to someone else!”

Dos Santos continued …

“He said, ‘Why should only one person get two bonuses?’ So he took $ 50,000 from me so he owed me $ 50,000! He cheated on me.

“But it was common to have two bonuses per night and sometimes some guys got three!”

Dos Santos also targeted the UFC for allowing Tyson to call the shots.

“The fight was really good. I went three laps with Mark Hunt and at the end I pulled him out with a spinning back kick,” he said.

“They owed me two bonuses. For me it was a lot, but probably not for the UFC.

“It showed a lot of Dana White’s personality because the UFC is so big and if Mike Tyson wanted someone else to get knocked out of the night, the UFC had to give someone else an extra bonus but still. I was mine.

37-year-old Dos Santos has lost his last four matches, which led to his UFC release in March. He recently signed with a boxing management company and now wants to fight Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
