He saw a wild snake swimming in the pond

A traveler has described the horrifying moment he saw a three-metre long snake in his hotel swimming pool.

A British musician and TikToker who documents her travels under the name Elizabeth Elektra was vacationing in Thailand when she found the animal.

In the one-minute video, which has been viewed more than 300,000 times, the giant snake can be seen slithering through the hotel’s neon-lit swimming pool as its evening swim is interrupted by hotel staff.

“I’m on vacation in Thailand and there’s a 12-foot snake in the pool,” reads the text on the screen.

Thailand is home to some of the world’s largest and deadliest snakes, including the massive reticulated python, which can reach over six meters in length, and the king cobra, the world’s longest venomous snake.

The reticulated python can swim and is sometimes found in the open ocean. Country sea snakes are very poisonous, but usually do not attack people.

The snake’s evening swim was interrupted by alarmed hotel staff.

Staff can be seen using pool cleaners to retrieve the large snake, which recoils when touched.

“The hotel staff moved him to safety, one of them patting his head as he took him away for reassurance,” Tiktoker wrote.

However, some viewers took a less friendly approach to the unexpected guest.

“My list of countries to visit keeps getting shorter,” commented one.

Another scoffed at the hotel staff’s attempt to move him: “What was this little net to do?”

“Snake is on vacation too,” joked another.
