During the 2023 Grammy Awards, LL Cool J and Questlove introduced a celebration of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, bringing together a large group of hip-hop icons to run through two lines of one of their hits. Gone, maybe some clever choreography. Dance moves, and then quickly step aside so the next celebrity can come out. It was a big event, and one of the highlights of an otherwise live show, but there much more What’s going on. Everyone who was there (though It all moved very quickly and it was hard to see every single person who made an appearance, so there may have been some notable cameos that we missed.).

There were also nods to artists who weren’t included, such as a Beastie Boys t-shirt featured during a Run-DMC segment and a list of names on the back of each.
