House Democrats want to end prisons: ‘a world we all deserve’

In Washington, longtime Democratic Rep. Mike Doyle’s district is run by progressive Democrats Summer Lee, D-Pa.

Lee is a Democratic socialist, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., whose political path is to far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

He openly supported several socialist policies, including wealth redistribution, as well as controversial progressive policies such as prison abolition.

“Instead of saying ‘thank you’ to black women, black voters, and especially black organizers…give us the investments we need and deserve, redistribute wealth, end police brutality, end the carceral state.” ‘q commit to building black-led political power and reparations,’ Lee wrote in November 2020.

Florida has a young, progressive congressman in 2020 in Rep. Maxwell Frost, who has endorsed an anti-police, anti-prison lobby.

Frost has been endorsed by Sanders and Warren, as well as several other progressive groups and lawmakers.

Democrats have seen gains in progressive and socialist membership as the party continues to shift to the left, even in conservative states.
