Odell Beckham can return punts for Monday Night Rams, According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Despite returning just one punt in two years with the Beckham Browns, the Rams could use him as a “safe” punt returner deep in their own area, every shuffler, this year they’ve used the Cooper Kupp. The Rams could put him in other packages.
Beckham already has a lot on his plate after suffering a torn ACL on Friday. The Rams took action before they found out about Woods, and the injury pushed Beckham into the No. 2 receiver role.
Still, according to Schefter, the team thought of Beckham as a punt returner.
Beckham returned punts regularly with the Giants early in his career, averaging 13 yards per return in 2015, though he never scored a touchdown.
The embattled receiver signed with the Rams earlier this week following an extended breakup with the Browns. Beckham’s camp blamed Baker Mayfield for lack of production with the Browns. That led him to waiver and romance with Rama.
According to Schefter, the Packers, Chiefs, Saints and Seahawks were all at Beckham, but the Rams won the sweepstakes because they fit their standards and gave Beckham the ability to live in Los Angeles.
