One of the UFC’s most iconic fighters, Chan Sung Jung, aka ‘The Korean Zombie’ has issued a petition to the UFC to allow him to fight fellow fan-favorite Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway.
Holloway was initially scheduled to fight Yair Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 31. However, after suffering an injury during the fighting camp, he was forced to leave. Meanwhile, Chan Sung Jung made an impressive five-round performance against Dan Ige for a unanimous decision victory.
Since then she has repeatedly called for a fight with Holloway. In a video recently posted to the Korean Zombie YouTube channel, Jung raised the point that Yair Rodriguez has been inactive for two years, but was still given a shot at the number one featherweight.
Chan Sung Jung said, “Yair hasn’t fought in almost two years, but he will fight Max for his return.” “I guess everything happens for a reason? Thanks to Yair, the UFC knows who I want to fight next. Yair is gone for so long, yet he deserves to fight the guy in the first place.” I get a chance. I kept quiet after losing to Brian Ortega, but I’ve made it clear that I won’t fight someone less ranked than me.”
Chan Sung Jung calls for equal fighting opportunities
Chan Sung Jung’s points are valid, and now that he is coming out from behind an impressive victory over a high-level rival like Ige, his words may stop falling on deaf ears. He added that Yair Rodriguez is free to turn down callouts from lower-ranked opponents, rather than facing higher-ranked fighters.
“Recently, Giga Chikadze called Yair Rodriguez,” Chan Sung Jung said. “But Yair has been calm. The only fighters after Yar are ranked higher than him and he got what he wanted when he was determined to fight Max Holloway. I’m not trying to be picky, but I gave I want to go for equal opportunities with Yayar.”
Chan Sung Jung clearly has his sights set on a potential matchup with Max Holloway, as he once again called him out.
“He doesn’t have the punching power. But I have the punching power. I can beat him.”
