Under the scheme, a family of five can reimburse 40 exams per month. PCR tests and rapid tests, ordered or administered by healthcare providers, will continue to cover insurance coverage completely without any limitations.

“This is part of our overall strategy to increase access to easy-to-use, in-home tests at no cost,” Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said in a statement Monday. “By requiring private health plans to cover people’s home tests, we are further expanding the ability of Americans to get tests free when they need them.”
The administration is trying to encourage private insurers to cover inspections upfront and without a cumbersome reimbursement process.
