Leon Edwards is one of the best fighters in the welterweight division, and after his win over Nate Diaz, he is very close to a title shot. However, he teased his fans as he talked about his fight against Conor McGregor.
He appeared in an interview with James English for his YouTube channel ‘Anything Go with James English’. When the English asked him about a possible fight against Conor McGregor, Edwards replied:
“It’s a possibility. I’ll be too big for him. I’m like a natural welterweight, I don’t think Connor fought like a natural welterweight. Every time he fights at welterweight, it’s a lightweight up Or he’s never been a welterweight. Yes that’s a possibility.”
James English then spoke about McGregor claiming to have won the UFC Championship in Kamaru Usman and three different weight classes. If Edwards wins the title, a fight between Edwards and McGregor becomes a real possibility.
“We’ve got the same manager. We’ve got the same management team, so that would make it easier to build, but yeah, I don’t think it would make sense,” Edwards said.

Leon Edwards and his epic battle against Nate Diazzo
The British fighter was involved in one of the best fights of the year against MMA legend Nate Diaz at UFC 263. The match went a long way and the crowd kept jumping from start to finish.
Edwards got off to a strong start and dominated Diaz in the first two rounds. However, ‘The Stockton Slugger’ is known to have a slow start, and as time went on he grew into the fight. By the fourth frame, Edwards was up three rounds and looked great in the fight.
However, Diaz eventually sensed Edwards’ timing and began shooting his own shots. In the final round, Nate Diaz shook off Leon Edwards with a left cross that turned the arena upside down. Instead of going to the end, Diaz made fun of ‘Rocky’ and laughed.
In the end, he couldn’t find the finish, and Leon Edwards survived the remaining minute to score an impressive victory over one of the game’s biggest superstars.
