Between Jerry Jones and Roger Goodell everything is fine now.
Although the Cowboys owner once fought the $ 64 million salary reported by Goodell, Jones looked good with the numbers.
“Of course those numbers on their face are big numbers,” Jones said Bob Costas on his HBO show, “Back on the Record. “” Roger is an excellent commissioner. When I first came to the league years ago, I could tell they were big. I’m not sure what your talented man was doing then.
“But I know we can see where we are today, and those numbers are quite high at the moment. So everything’s got more of a contrast to what we’ve seen in the past. But I think it does. I think Roger Goodell has done a great job as the NFL’s commissioner.
When the owner offered Goodell an extension in 2017, it was seen as a condemnation for Jones, who was upset about Goodell’s handling of Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension that season.
At one point in the story, there were suggestions that Jones could be disciplined or removed from ownership.
So, things have come a long way.
And while things aren’t perfect with the NFL – the investigation of the Washington football team is the league’s main concern – the owners don’t seem to have problems with Goodell at the moment.
