LBL’ Jessie Waters has been named a permanent host to its 7 pm EST slot, the network announced Monday. He replaces Martha McCullum, the last full-time anchor to occupy the bell.
McCallum hosted “The Story” before moving to Daylight Perch exactly one year ago. Since then, a series of rotating Fox anchors, including Maria Bartiromo and Brian Kilmead, have led “LBL Primetime”, a news and opinion hybrid, because the bell is the bridge between the channel’s daytime news programs and its primetime opinion.
The 43-year-old Philadelphia native’s “Jesse Waters Primetime” kicks off on January 24. Waters will continue to be co-host of the network’s “The Five,” but his weekend show, “Waters World”, will end its Saturday run. (LBL did not announce the replacement.)
“I am thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to take on this new challenge,” Waters said in a statement.
Waters rose to the rank of production assistant in 2002 on the network. The following year, he made a splash with man-on-the-street interviews for “The O’Reilly Factor.”
“Waters World” premiered in 2017, the same year the TV personality was named co-host of the channel’s afternoon panel show “The Five”.

Waters is not free from controversy. Earlier this month he said he welcomed the confusion on “The Five.” “Am I sorry about Joe Biden? No!” He said. “I work at Fox! I want to see the mess on the left! It’s good for America. It’s good for our ratings.”
In December, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases announced the appointment. Waters raved about Anthony Fauci’s feathers with remarks made to the audience in the conservative “Americafest.”
Waters said the national institute of health at the lab in Wuhan, China, the city where the COVID-19 virus originated, should face Fouci over whether it funded the research. He said visitors should lie about the subject – Fauci disputed.
Waters said, “Now you go to the kill shot. The ambush kill is deadly because he doesn’t see it coming.” He advised visitors to say, “You know why people don’t trust you, don’t you?” “Oh, he’s dead. He’s dead. He’s done.”
Waters said visitors should make sure the encounter is filmed and that the conservative media has footage. This is a confrontational tactic used by the Project Veritas group elsewhere in conservative politics.
“Make sure it’s legal,” Waters said.
A partial clip of Waters’ speech, beginning with the “Kill Shot” quote, went viral, spreading on the Internet, with some commentators suggesting Fouci’s assassination. In a statement, Fox said, “Based on watching the entire clip and reading the entire transcript, it is clear that Jesse Waters is using metaphor to ask tough questions … and his words are completely twisted out of context.”
