Kamala Harris praises ‘fantastic’ POTUS candidate who is ‘a better, more effective politician’ than he looks

Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson said Vice President Kamala Harris has more potential than she let on display in her office during a question-and-answer session with readers on Tuesday.

Robinson’s comments came in response to a Washington Post reader named Sharon who participated in the question-and-answer session. Sharon asked, “Assuming Biden runs again, wouldn’t it make sense for him to dump VP Harris and find another running mate?”

He added: “He has very little influence on me, he’s not an inspiring leader, and there are a lot of other high profile Dems who are more passionate about the ticket.”

Robinson answered clearly, insisting that Harris is an elite politician.

“I think so,” he answered.

“If VP Harris doesn’t make an impact, it’s mostly — maybe entirely — because he’s in the gilded prison known as the vice presidency. His role is second fiddle. His current position allows him to demonstrate,” he continued.

“If President Biden decides to retire in 2024-2028, he will be a serious contender for the Democratic presidential nomination,” Robinson wrote.

Harris dropped out of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary in 2019, before the Iowa caucuses. After Harris dropped out of the race, citing a lack of funding, his poll numbers dropped significantly and his campaign struggled to attract voters.

According to a book by New York Times reporters covering the 2020 campaign, First Lady Jill Biden was once upset that Harris was the top choice for vice president, asking, “Should we pick someone who attacked Joe?”

His tenure as vice president has been rocky, with his public comments and speaking style often derided as word salads. He has also come under fire for declaring the southern border “secure” and for the distribution of Typhoon Yan aid on a “priority” basis and high staff turnover.

During the Biden administration, Harris’s liberal media allies blamed his historically low approval ratings on racism and misogyny.

Robinson is no stranger to controversy. In May, he celebrated high gas prices as an “opportunity to make good choices” about climate change. Robinson also described President Biden’s widely criticized speech in Philadelphia, in which he called supporters of former President Trump a threat to democracy, as a “rushed wartime appeal.”
