A California man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Missy Hernandez, but her body has not yet been found, authorities announced yesterday.
The 30-year-old mother, who resembles Kim Kardashian, was last seen in Fresno on the night of December 7 when she left the art show with her boyfriend Ramon Jimenez, officials said.
On Dec. 8, Hernandez’s friends contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office because they couldn’t catch her, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.
“Missy is a very social person and she is on public view on a regular basis, so she is considered unresponsive or unusual to see,” said Tony Botti, a spokesman for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy responded to Hernandez’s home in the Fresco area, where he was nowhere to be found.
While at the home of the missing mother, Deputy Jimenez made contact with the man and identified him as a wanted man for family violence at the same address.
In October, Missy filed a report of domestic violence against her boyfriend, but deputies were unable to track Jimenez at the time.
The deputy took Jimenez into custody on Dec. 8 and placed him in the Fresno County Jail.
Because of the evidence gathered at Missy’s home, “the detectives identified Ramon Jimenez as an interested person and requested the jury to arrest him without bail, which was approved,” the press release said.
In the aftermath of Jimenez’s arrest, authorities say detectives have collected “overwhelming” digital and forensic evidence.
The murder charge against Ramon Jimenez was added on January 11.
Authorities believe Hernandez may have died.
“Based on the evidence and the length of time Missy went, detectives have reason to believe she was dead and Jimenez was responsible for her death,” the release states.
Jimenez has already appeared in court once and his next hearing is scheduled for March 22, where he will officially hire a lawyer.
According to her family, Hernandez has a 12-year-old daughter, although it is not clear that she lives with him.
Officials said Missy’s daughter was “safe and now with her other family members.”
According to an Instagram post by her friend, Hernandez has plenty of pets, including hairless cats.
She has a family in Texas who said she sometimes goes by the name of Missy Perez.
